Items are categorized by bar code. Using a digital camera, photographs of each item are taken. This ID and photo, along with a categorized description of the item, its wholesale and retail prices, quantity, and an assortment of other information are saved. An item can be found through a variety of means – by scanning the bar code of the item, its description will appear. JSS contains a database for the store’s list of suppliers. This list includes contact information and descriptions of the types of products they provide. The Inventory list correlates with the Supplier list in order to allow a store to easily place new orders based on the needs and requests of its customer base.
A Customer list contains information about all past purchases, including the names and addresses, as provided by its customers at the time of purchase. The store can track the buying activity of particular individuals, their preferred payment methods, and item preferences. As with all pages, this customer page is correlated to the Inventory and Supplier lists.
If a customer wishes to place a custom order, the store can use our software to determine the cheapest and fastest way to have the item made. By utilizing the various lists and functions, a store can locate the appropriate supplier or factory. For companies that work with raw materials in order to create their own finished products, the JSS contains Inventory and Supplier lists for all stones and metals. The store uses these lists to make jewelry according to the specifications of its customer.
Using these main functions, a retail store can outfit its customers and deal with wholesalers. A wholesaler, using the same software, can coordinate between the factory and the retailer. Likewise, a factory can track its production facilities, place orders for raw materials, and track orders, distribution, and payments.
